About True Clean

Seventeen years in the trade, twelve of them here in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha. We started out in Johannesburg and we’ve been here ever since.

Carpets, rugs and upholstery for all of it, and seven years doing pest control alongside it.

We work across Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha, plus Bluewater Bay, Despatch, Malabar, Uitenhage, Seaview, Beachview, Kini Bay, Colchester and St Francis Bay. The suburb by suburb list is on the homepage.

That’s honestly most of what there is to say about the business. The people are further down, and the rest of this site is about what we’ll actually do once you phone, which is the part that matters to you.

No drama. Just clean. That’s the bit we try to live, even if we don’t print it on the van.

What you can hold us to

We’ll tell you the price before we start, and we’ll tell you if it needs to move.
If something isn’t going to come out, you’ll hear it while we’re standing there.
We won’t take a job we already know we can’t fix.
You’ll hear anything that came up before we leave, not in a message two days later.

The prices we work off are the ones on the prices page. There is no second list.

Who you’ll be dealing with

We’re a small business, so everybody here does more than their job title says. The person who answers your WhatsApp might be the one booking your rug in an hour later, and the one who writes these pages is the one who comes out about the cockroaches.

It seemed only fair that you know who you’re dealing with before we’re on the phone or at your door.

Diederik Visser

Operations, marketing and pest control

Diederik runs operations and marketing, and then does whatever else needs doing that week, which in a business this size is quite a lot. He spends a fair bit of his time thinking up better ways to look after the people who book us and to move the business forward. He’s also the pest controller, so if you phone about rats or bed bugs, he’s the one who comes out. Away from work it’s sci-fi and most things geeky.
Cindy

Runs the office

Cindy is the captain of the ship. She keeps everybody in check and makes sure they’re where they need to be, which is harder than it sounds. When the office gets busy she’s on the phones helping Angie, and she isn’t above cleaning a rug or two herself. At home she’s a loving mom.
Angie

Phones, WhatsApp and bookings

If you’ve phoned or WhatsApped us, you’ve most likely spoken to Angie. She handles the questions and the quotes, books the loose rugs in and out, and picks up a lot of other things along the way. She’s friendly and upbeat with everybody who gets in touch. Away from the desk she’s outdoors or reading.

Jacobus

Team supervisor

Jacobus supervises the cleaning team and drives the bakkie. He has a keen eye for dirt and a good sense of how to sort it out, and a sense of humour that keeps the day moving. He loves cars, the older the better, and likes a bit of gardening too.
Bongani

Carpet and upholstery cleaner

Bongani has been with us longer than anybody. He loves the job and takes it seriously, and a stain that won’t shift genuinely bothers him. He knows carpet and upholstery cleaning inside out. Off duty it’s his kids and gaming.
Siya

Upholstery cleaner

Siya assists Jacobus and Bongani and is a master upholstery cleaner. He runs everywhere, which is probably why he’s so fit, and he coaches soccer on top of it. He also loves a chat, maybe a bit too much.
