Privacy
This is the short, honest version. True Clean is a carpet cleaning and pest control business in Gqeberha, and this website is a set of plain pages with no accounts, no login and no shopping basket.
The Protection of Personal Information Act calls us the responsible party for whatever personal information you give us. Our details are at the bottom of this page.
What the website itself stores about you
Nothing.
There is no analytics on this site, no advertising pixel, no tracking cookie and no third party script. The font is on our own server rather than fetched from Google, so opening a page here does not tell anybody else that you did.
One small exception, and it never leaves your phone. If you close the little WhatsApp prompt in the corner, your browser remembers that for the rest of your visit so it does not pop up again on the next page. That flag lives in your own browser, it holds nothing about you, and it disappears when you close the tab.
The booking form
It has two buttons and they behave differently. Worth knowing which you pressed.
WhatsApp. Nothing is sent from this site at all. The form writes a sentence out of what you typed and hands it to WhatsApp on your own phone, with the message ready to go. Change your mind before you press send there and we never see any of it.
Email. This one does send. What you typed is posted to our own server, which emails it to us and keeps no copy. It is not stored in a database, it is not written to a file, and it does not pass through anybody else’s service on the way. Your email address goes in the reply-to line so we can answer you, and nowhere else.
Either way it reaches the same inbox, and either way it is only used to answer you and do the job. We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one.
What we collect when you get hold of us
Only what a cleaning job needs.
- Your name, and the phone number you message or phone from.
- Which part of Gqeberha or Port Elizabeth you are in, and later the address, once there is a booking to keep.
- What needs doing. Rooms, seat counts, the size and type of a rug, what you are seeing and where, and any photos you choose to send.
- What we quoted, what we did, and what you paid.
We ask for it so we can quote you, get to the right house, bring the right machine and keep a record of the job. That is the whole reason, and we do not use it for anything else.
We do not sell it, rent it or hand it to anybody for marketing. Ever.
Who else touches it
Three sorts of people, and no more than that.
- WhatsApp. If you message us, the conversation sits on your phone and on ours, and it goes through WhatsApp to get there. That is Meta’s service and their own privacy terms apply to it, the same as with any other WhatsApp chat you have.
- Whoever hosts these pages. A web server keeps ordinary access logs, which include the address your internet connection is using at the time. We do not read them and we do not join them up to anything.
- Our accountant and SARS. An invoice is a tax record and we have to keep it for five years, which is the law rather than our choice.
Our own team sees what they need to do the job in front of them and nothing more.
How long we keep it
Quotes that never turned into a job get cleared out once they are plainly cold.
Job records and invoices we keep for five years, because tax law says so. Photographs of work we keep while they are useful, and we do not put a photograph of anybody’s home on this site, on Facebook or anywhere else without being asked first and told yes.
What you can ask us for
POPIA gives you the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted where we are not obliged to keep it, and to tell us to stop contacting you. You can also complain to the Information Regulator if we get it wrong and you are not satisfied with how we handled it.
Phone or WhatsApp us and ask. There is no form for it and we will not make it difficult.
If we ever have to change this page, the change goes up here on the same day.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Not one, not for analytics, not for advertising, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
There is a single exception and it is not a cookie. When you close the little WhatsApp label in
the corner, your browser remembers that in session storage under the name
tcWaDismissed, so it doesn’t pop back up at you on the next page. It never
leaves your device, we cannot read it, and your browser throws it away when you close the tab.
We don’t run Google Analytics, a Facebook pixel, or any other tracker. Nothing on these pages is fetched from another company’s server, including the font, so no third party is told that you were here.
Your web browser sends an ordinary request to whoever hosts these pages, and that request appears in a server log, which is the same for every website in the world. What that log holds and how long it lasts is above, under who else touches it.
Your rights under POPIA
We handle personal information in line with POPIA, the Protection of Personal Information Act. That gives you the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to object to us using it, and to withdraw your consent at any time.
Ask us and we’ll do it. There is no form for it and we will not make it difficult.
If you think we have handled your information badly and we haven’t put it right, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. We would rather you came to us first, but that route exists and you are entitled to it.
